AWOHF medical outreach program for Gidan Gimba community in Nasarawa state North-Central Nigeria.

The Medical Outreach for the Gidan Gimba , a rural community in New Karu Local Government Area in Nassarawa State, North Central Nigeria was carefully designed to impact the inhabitants of the community with over 200,000 persons. Gidan Gimba was deliberately chosen after an inspection (Community entry) of two other communities in the Local Government Area, as a community with the greatest need. The outreach was coordinated by AWOHF with the support of GreenAid Empowerment Foundation. Over 400 people and household were either medically treated or economically empowered. In attendance were representatives of Federal Ministry of Women Affairs (observers) and a reporter from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).Representatives of the Federal Capital City Development
Authority. Representatives of the military and the local vigilante groups. The event was lavishly reported in the Nigeria Online news media such as Sun news online, nigeriadailynews.com; portal.nannews.ng; forums.allschool.com.ng; pulse.ng; latestnigerianews.com; dailytrust.com; allafrica.com, amongst several others.
In addition to our achievements in Gidan Gimba community, the community also appealed that we assist the community in the refurbishing of the only borehole that serves the community. And since it was bad, the community has been facing hardship of water for awhile and the only source of water available is a stream and open dugout wells that is not good for the health. The other request by the community is the renovation and furnishing of their Community LEA Primary School which is in a very bad state and urgent needs is required for the students.
