Appointment of AWOHF Executive Director

The Executive Director of Active World Health Foundation (AWOHF), Dr. Juliet E. Essien has recently been appointed the Medical Director of United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESC) for Nigeria, under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Her appointment, which was approved by the National Chairman, UNESC, Amb (Dr) Blessing Anyokei-Gozi was in recognition of her hard work as Executive Director of AWOHF and the Foundation’s record contributions to health service in the rural areas it has conducted her medical/economic outreach.

Dr Essien, under the auspices of UNESC on 21st February delivered an awareness lecture on COVID-19 to a group of locals in Mpape, a suburb under the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. She made the audience to know that COVID-19 is real, highly contagious, and also counseled them on the necessity to be careful and to observe the WHO protocols of the pandemic. The awareness lecture was attended by the African Chairman of UNESC, Prof Nathan Tor Lugo, who then was in Nigeria.
